Growing up is hard to do...

I see this face a lot throughout my day...accompanied by "why mommy". He has such a sweet way of asking, but the game gets old quite quickly. I can't believe how much he's seemingly changed in the last two weeks. I'm not surprised that he seems bigger to me, but it's the ways that he seems bigger/older that surprise me.

Aidan is quickly becoming a preschooler and out of the toddler phase. He is becoming increasingly independent, but is still reliant on mom and dad at certain times and for certain things. His language has definitely blossomed in the past few weeks and he understands so much. Yesterday we told him that Grandpa was pulling his leg, he pondered that for a moment, then looking concerned asked "Where?" It took us a minute to figure out that he didn't yet know this figure of speech. It truly is a joy to watch this little boy grow up.

This week he has been so good. Sure, we've had our moments, but overall he's handled the transition to big brother well. He started putting on his own shoes this week...still not sure where he learned to do that, but it's incredibly helpful! He can get himself dressed from head to toe, sometimes with just a little help. He wants to do more and more things "by myself". But, as soon as daddy comes home from work, he clings to Chris' side and wants to "Play". Yesterday it was hide and seek, tag, dinosaurs, airplanes, and anything else they could think of. Poor Chris is exhausted by the time Aidan's bedtime rolls around! But, it allows me to deal with Isaac in his fussiest time of the day as well as make dinner.

But, then there are the mornings like today...we had two 20+ minute tantrums before noon. One over taking a shower and the other because I told him no more Caillou for the moment. We've recently given up his naps because it was making the bedtime battle last until at least 10 or 11 at night and we just couldn't handle it anymore. And, most days he's just as good with or without a nap. Today however, he crashed around 1:30 and is still sleeping! I think the week finally caught up with him. Thankfully it has allowed me to pack up the apartment to head back to GR for the weekend! See you all soon!
